Being the Archipelago lookout, la Désirade is located at 8 km from "la Pointe des Chateaux", at the east of Guadeloupe.
2 km wide and 11 km long, la Désirade has keept his enviroment intact and his inhabitants are living essentially thanks to fishing, but also to small agriculture.

With the island of "Petite Terre" that is attached to la Désirade, the latter covering an area of about 24 km².

La Désirade is the driest island of Guadeloupe with an arid soil, a hot and windy climate, thanks to the trade winds.
